China - Urumqi, City of the Future: October 18-19

Get a better understanding of Urumqi economic background and projects and meet local officials and local companies to improve your business in China.

After our two trips in Nanjing and Chengdu, the French Chamber of Commerce in China invites you to our last step of City of the Future 2012 in Urumqi.

The event will take place on October 18th and 19th and registration is now open.

For information, the deadline for BtoB meeting request is set to September 11th.

As usual, this 1.5 days event will allow all interrested companies to get a better understanding of Urumqi economic background and projects as well as to meet local officials and local companies to improve your business.
The French Ambassador, S.E.M. Sylvie Bermann, already confirmed her attendance to this event and will support our delegation.

• Urumqi brief introduction:
At the extreme west of China with borders with Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, the province benefits from a wide range of assets such as an abundant oil reserves, natural resources (wind & solar power, mineral) and the China's largest natural gas-producing region status. Xinjiang agriculture, particularly in fruits and sheep, is also a core part of its economy.
The GDP of the province was up to 657.4 billion RMB in 2011 with a 12% growth compared to 2010.

Situated in the remote northwestern China and hinterland of Eurasia continent, Urumqi is the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
With a population of 2.3 million inhabitants, it is the main city in the west China. It's GDP in 2011 was up to RMB 169.6 billion representing a 17.1% growth compared to 2010.

Central Government invest billions of RMB to develop the Province and its main city, Urumqi. Considering the geographical position, the city aims to become a major hub between China and middle east. Infrastructures development tend to support this objective with the airport operating 141 lines in connection with 21 countries, the arterial highway transportation network centering on the city, the Urumqi Railway Administration with 21.5 pairs of express train and the modern urban public transportation of Bus.
